Nearly There

Fundraising has been going extremely well. After only about a month I am nearly at my goal of $4,000. Thank you to everyone who has donated to Bike and Build. I continue to be amazed by the outpouring of support for this cause and it is getting me continually more motivated for the trip. Over the past month I've been working on finding out a little more about the ins and outs of the trip by talking to some alumni and my trip leader Rebecca. Last week was very exciting as our trip grew another 3 members, all of them the remaining trip leaders. With them on board it looks like the trip is really a go and Rebecca wont be alone. I've gotten a kick out of reading the bios of a lot of the other riders and the very different backgrounds that they come from. The diverse group will be sure to provide a lot to discuss and learn from during the trip.

On a more personal note I was recently accepted to graduate school at the University of California at Santa Barbara in the Materials Department for my PhD work. This is very exciting for me and I'm going out to visit at the end of the month. Santa Barbara will very likely be my home for the next 5 years or so and is just a short 300 or so mile ride from San Fran after we finish there in August.

Stay posted for more info on the trip in the weeks to come.
